The topic is about drug addiction. People who are addicted to drugs are hopeless because they can not live a normal life as usual. Their heads are occupied with desires to drugs, and they think drugs will help them relax and forget depressions; however, they neglect that happiness brought by drugs is temporary; afterwards, there will be more problems need solving.
Their PSA background music is suitable to the topic: dangerous and emergent feelings. Photos showed up in the PSA are so realistic and terrifying so that that may prevent people from touching drugs. Besides photos, every questions appeared in the PSA are sobering and worth thinking for the public.
Print ads are related to their PSA and not bad!
Group11
The topic is animal abuse. What a sham to maltreat those animals which are weaker than human beings! They don't have any ability to defend or fight back; they can't talk or speak out load their inner feelings. How innocent they are! They need our help and care. Dogs are our best, faithful friends; they treat people well, shouldn't we also treat them in the same way?
There are many photos in the PSA. Compared with those cute animals, abused ones seem much more unfortunate. The order of photos match well with the sentences, and the horrible photos help achieve the goal to ask people to stop abusing animals. Their slogan also express the information clearly!
Print ads are good and related to their PSA!
Group10
This topic is about polital rifts. I believe that Taiwan people must be very familiar with those News or situations appeared in the PSA. Sometimes, when I watch the news, It seems that I was watching the variety shows. How funny and rediculous those statesmen are! They should spare no effort to unite this country rather than divide it.
This PSA is pretty good. News, photos as well as the background music are related to Taiwan. Moreover, the sound effects used in the questions are cool, and the slogan "P.E.A.C.E" impresses me a lot. Each character has its own meaning, and while putting all together, PEACE points out our greatest hope! Their PSA is very novel and meaningful, and I like it very much!
Print ads are good, too. Countless flying lanterns carry every Taiwanese person's hope. I hope one day peace will come true!
Group9
Their topic is domestic violence. This problem is worsening nowadays, and the victims are no longer just wives but husbands included. Marriage should be happy and content instead of angry or regretful, shouldn't it?
The way to produce this PSA is very interesting; there is something related to the last presentation of this group! The sound effects and the dark backgrounds indicates the horrible atmosphere; besides, the make-up on the actress's face is so realistic that the audience may feel painful as well. This group also provide the solutions to this problem: Say No, Run away, Call the police, which can help victims for sure.
Generally speaking, Their print ads are good. But as the teacher said, "No Run" may cause misunderstanding really.
Group8
The topic is anti-abortion. This issue is really sobering because it's about the holy life and a sense of responsibility! If you are not ready for the new life, do not produce it. Never give it a chance to live at first, and then take away cruelly.Think twice before you leap!
The begining of PSA is creative: s sound of gun is the symbol of capital punishment given to the unborn life instead. The background music and sound effect such as baby's cry are appropriate. The term,Silent howl, is so precisely-described that I feel heart broken when watching the following pictures!
Their print ads are good but can be more specific.
Group7
The topic is "Low morality".Compared with some western countries, Taiwan is really in a chaos. Not only trash but also urine and dog's droppings can been seen everywhere. It's time for Taiwanese to correct and prevent ourself from looking down!
The background music points out the topic at once: something about garbage.I think this is very creative. Besides, those pictures convey the information strongly. After seeing their PSA, nobody wants to become those low-morality figures in photos!
As for the print ads, they are also very clear. That black dog impresses me a lot! People don't maintain the environment first, how can we scold stray dogs?
2009-06-18
Group 6
The topic is global warming. We have only one earth, and we have the obligation to protect it.
Firstly, the background music is appropriate because it sends off the feeling of emergency. Indeed, we have to take action as early as possible. Secondly, each photo presents how serious this problem is. Among all, picture with the polar bear on a little piece of ice shocks me most. Thirdly, not only did they emphasize how terrible but provide some practical solutions, which are easy to do for everyone of us. This PSA has already attained the goal to arouse the public.
As for print ads, they are also very good and clear!
Group 4
The topic is the ues of helmet. Although our government has already legislated the law of wearing helmet on motorcycle, most people still refuse to wear it because of their hair style and it's inconvenient mentioned in the PSA so that many fatal accidents take place.
At first, the sound effect indicates the topic. Some horrible pictures have the function to warn people to wear helmet; otherwise, no helmet no chance!
Generally speaking, print ads are very clear about the topic.
Group 2
Their topic is about teenagers' pregnency. Nowadys, the open mind toward sex is common among teenagers; however, those young mothers-to-be are not ready to raise the baby, and they might feel helpless and afraid. As what they said in the PSA,"You are not alone", people should help and accept them as well.
There are many related photos in the PSA so that the audience can be appealed at once; in addition, those photos show the panic, shocked feeling, which are exact the emotions when they know they have a baby. They also mention the biggest problem, children have children, and it is really a sobering question. This PSA provide us the useful phone number and website, and I think this PSA will achieve the goal certainly!
Ther print ads are good, and clearly express the information to the public.

Group 5 (mine)
We didn't make this project perfect and satisfying.
As we presented befor the PSA started, our creative method is contrast. Comparing happy children with those abused ones highlights the misfortune of abused children. We hope to present in a less cruel and more hopeful way, but we didn't expect that this method will cause a confusion.
As for the Korean background music, unsuitable website, and not enough Taiwanese photos, we really didn't notice so that we made the mistakes of omissions.
It's very pity to fail this final project; however, all of us learned a lesson.
Group3
The theme is Pro Natalist, to encourage people to give birth to children. Less and less children are born each year, which means aging population society is forming in Taiwan, and gradually, Taiwan will become the second Japan. Citizens are old and labors are lacking.
In the PSA, they present some graphics at first for us to compare which is better and which one do you like to go. The answer is obvious. The pictures as well as the background music give me the hopeful feeling, and they match very well. Children can make your life happier even though sometimes they are indeed troublemakers; I strongly agree with thier point of view, and it is very convicing. This PSA can attain the aim, to encourage people to give birth to children, undoubtedly!
As for the print ads, they were made sophisticatedly. People would be persuaded with ease.
2009-06-15
Group 1
The group's PSA theme is FRAUD! It is one of the most serious problems in Taiwan, and it is worth discussing and paying lots of attentions.
There is one short film produced by themselves in the beginning of the PSA TV ad. This method is very novel and interesting; which appeals me a lot and make it easier to know the theme; by the way, Tony is the good actor!
Besides the short film, their slogan, RECOGNIZE, REPORT, STOP, is also very helpful for the public to avoid fraud
Their print ads are clear and connected with the PSA as well. Both of ads and PSA proclaim that people should think twice before they leap so that they won't be cheated.

Arrogant Dog
Once upon a time, there was the dog, Jason. It was much different from its friends because it always considered itself a human being. Jason walked in human's position usually, ate big meal, slept on the soft bed; what's worse, it thought other animals as his pets! One day, Jason finally had a chance to prove that he was man undoubtedly; he could run an errand like humans. However......

Susan Boyle Webquest
Task1.
I think Susan is brave enough to face others' opinions toward her no matter positive or negative; it takes lots of couragement. Additionally, she seizes each opportunity to show herself to the world to make everyone know her; she pursues her dream and lets her beautiful voices be heard. Undoubtedly, her dream is going to come true! Nowadays, Susan Boyle is a household name; maybe, there will be the company to help her release new album, and then make a fortune and live a better life. What's more, she may meet her soul mate, who admires her inner beauty.
This video compares before performance with after. Those audience and judges have different attitude to her; from teasing to appreciating. This part of video shows the common error that most people have--prejudice. This video is really the sobering one!
In my opinion, Susan Boyle can just keep her own dressing and hair style. Because that is real self. No matter how she looks different, people who love her will still love her, and vice versa. She doesn't have to change the appearance to cater to the public.
Task2.

SINGING HOPE By Joachim Sim
When Susan Boyle sang,
there was melody in our hearts.
Looking at her,
it was totally unexpected.
Listening to her,
we see her search for fulfilment.
When she started to sing,
the world gasped in wonder.
What a beautiful refrain,
what wonderful hope it did bring.
Critics held their eternal silence,
swayed in pensive appreciation.
There’s much humanity in hope,
each one has a special gift from God.
Even if you’re not good-looking,
middle-aged, has learning difficulty
and unemployed,
there is room for happiness.
No matter how hopeless it seems,
life is full of pleasant surprises.
There’s a Susan Boyle in each of us,
like a masterpiece waiting
to be sculptured from a rock.
Susan overcame her limitation
and sang like an angel.
We see her as a living testimony
to God’s wonderful creation.
Her solitary voice is a choir to many,
bringing them hope and cheers.
Oh dreamt a dream she did,
to be like Elaine Page she said.
Her boldness of ambition
has power and magic in it.
She reminded us to judge people,
not by how they look
but by how they inspire others.
Judge not by looking at a lens,
but by looking through it.
We have reasons to rejoice,
sing praise for God’s special gift
within each of us.
Happiness is finding it,
nurturing it,
and sharing it with others.
Life is meaningful when one’s talent
is given the opportunity to excel.
Allelujah, praise the Lord!

Bittersweet Episode

Death, the heaviest issue, has been discussed over and over again by my sister and me. Among all kinds of accidents, what we really afraid is conflagration especially happened in hotel. Last summer vacation, we finally realized our dream, breathing in the United States. Generally speaking, everything was perfect except tiredness resulted from time difference. After visiting San Francisco, we bounded for Las Vegas, the most famous casino, and the episode took place next night…
It was an exhausting but peaceful night, after we traveled the Grand Canyon. We planned to go sleeping as early as possible; however, no sooner had we finished the shower than the alarm rang deafeningly. Both of us grabbed the bag and rushed out of the room at full speed. On my way to the lobby, I missed my family in Taiwan so much, and honestly speaking, I don’t know how come I still had ability to run so fast then; I was frightened to death! To my surprise, there were no screaming and pale people but carefree or drunk tourists strolling around the casino! The towel wrapping on my wet hair and our pajamas were eyesores in this relaxing and marry atmosphere…
After the guards’ check, it proved to be the trick that the crazy drunk foreigner played on all the lodgers. Even though the hotel turned out to be safe, we were still in thrilling trap, so we called to our cousin studying in Las Vegas. Later, he drove to our hotel to see if we were alright; I guess I must use exaggeration on the phone because he seemed a little bit nervous. Then we hanged around some famous hotels here, RIO, MGM and Wynn, and then we ate some Chinese food in NOODLE ASIA. I think this supper is the most delicious. While I was eating heartily, my cousin took this photo for me with those tasty dishes as you can see on the table. It was the memorable moment for all of us; it is hard for us to eat such a delicious food in U.S. and it was also not easy to get along with relatives in this remote country and chatted in our mother tongue.
Whenever I look at this photo, not only do I recall that perfect experience but start missing my cousin. With this photo, I think I will always remember the feeling back then, the taste of those dishes, and my cousin’s warmth. Now, I usually ask myself what if the alarm didn’t ring. Perhaps I will never know what Vegas looks like in midnight and how bustling it is even though it has already been 2:00A.M. Everything has both sides, right?
Oh, by the way, the next night in Los Angels, the alarm behind the bed rang again at 4:30 A.M. This time, we had neither cousin nor hastiness but disquiet still. What we fail to understand at once is that “alarm” also means “alarm clock”…
Childhood Past
This photo was taken on May 22, 1978.Because it was Henry's mother's birthday, they asked someone else, maybe photographer, neighbor or tourist, to take this family photo in Philippines, their sweet hometown, for them as a permanent memento. This photo is so meaningful for the writer that he still cherishes it till now even though it looks old, because this photo is the only envidence to show his family have once lived a happy life together in Philippines, which thanks to the fire occurred in April of 1981...I think the real story behind this photo is Henry's pity about losing two siblings who moved to Canada in early age and his sorrow for the loss of his house.
In Henry's childhood, his family consisted of parents, sister and him; however, that's just the family he knew. As a matter of fact, there were one brother and another sister, but Henry knew nothing about them even when he grew up and also left for Canada; it was really hard to take them as family! In my opinion, that Original siblings turn out to be strangers is the greatest tension generated in the story.
The climax in the story is that cruel fire in 1981. Everything changed from then on; their house was burnt dowm completely, and most memorable pictures were gone. This family photo was the only one that survived. From this story, I come to realize the importance of those pictures; the older they are, the more priceless they worth! The memory zones in our brain are limited, but our precious time in whole life is undoubtedly infinite. Therefore, to avoid living in vain and without any memory, we should preserve each memorable thing, like photos, masterpieces or cards, well. Nowadays, I think Blog is an ideal way to preserve them as long as the users make good use of it!

FACEinHOLE
You know what?
Winnie The Pooh was made based on my face, so actually, I should have been more popular and lovely than that fat bear!

Create your own FACEinHOLE
Barbie company also hired me to be their model. The designers were inspired by me, and produced the most popular doll, Annie!

Create your own FACEinHOLE

Create your own FACEinHOLE
As I grew up, I traveled around the world. Everything was changing, but there was the only thing that never changed--- I am always famous!

However, good fortune won't last forever...
Look at ME!

Create your own FACEinHOLE
I made up my mind to create another value because I clearly knew that I could not earn money by my appearance anymore. Studying is the only and the best way!

It was really a harsh time! I had few friends; all I could do was talk with PiPi, the squirrel. Unfortunately, it betrayed me in the long run...

Create your own FACEinHOLE
"When misfortune reaches the limit, good fortune is at hand." My sister and I finally become successful. We have our own insurance company and make a fortune!

Now...We live our happy life and live everyday to the fullest. Our next dream is to build up an animal shelter. "You have a dream and you have to protect it!" I hope one day my dream will come true again!

4. What do you think?
4. 1 Search the Internet and look for the meaning of 'yellow journalism'
"Yellow journalism" is a type of journalisms that makes sensationalized headlines to encourage people to buy newspaper and uses exaggerations of news events, scandals and sensationalism. Some people refer it as having multi-column front-page headlines , such as sports and scandal; additionally, many bright colors might be used widely.
4.2 Would you characterize Taiwan's news reporting as a form of 'yellow journalism'?
Yes, whenever open the newspaper, I will always be appealed by some shock headlines or bloody pictures, some of which make me feel uncomfortable sometimes.
Before long, there was a student at Wenzao committed a suicide by hanging herself with ballet shoelace, and many media use exaggerative and horrible headlines to tell the public about this sad news. However, how about her family espically her parents? What should they do to face those unproven news about their beloved daughter? Although I am not very familiar to her, I still paid a lot of attention on her death because we had been in the same junior high school and I really feel pity for her. After browsing her friends' blogs, I realized how much they were hurt by those irresponsible news."A friend in need is a friend indeed." Her friends stand for her bravely, and correct the news directly, which is really touched.
Media in Taiwan should stop this culture as soon as possible.
