Organ-Donation

1. What is the main message of Group 8's podcast topic?
They disscuss whether you 'd like to donate your organs after you die or not. They proveded us with some different cases and potential worries.

2. Did their show provide solutions to the problem? What are they?
They interview some pedestrians, and each of them has different ideas towards this issue. The audience could ponder carefully based on what they said.

3. Comment on the group's podcast.
3.1 What can you say about the quality of recording?
Maybe it will be better if they could balance the voice.
3.1.1 Was the voice of the hosts/guests/characters loud and clear?
Yes, very clear.
3.1.2 Was there any background noise that made it difficult to understand what was being said?
No, I can understand what was being said.
3.1.3 Was the pacing (speed) of the delivery (oral delivery made by the hosts/guests/characters) too slow or too fast?
It's good for me!
3.2 Was there any sound effects or background music used? Was it effective? In what way?
Their background music is so powerful and exciting that it makes me amused and interested.
3.3 Was there anything that you like about their show? What is it and why?
The photos they used are added some words to demonstrate what was being said. I think it is very helpful to have a better understanding.
3.4 Was there anything that you didn't like about their show? What is it and why?
No
3.5 If Group 8 is given the chance to do another presentation, what would you suggest members of Group 8 to do to make their presentation better?
Perhaps they can pay more attention on voice. Generally speaking, their presentation is good.

4. What do you think?
4. 1 What would you do to help someone stay alive?
I would donate my blood only, because I am very afraid of pain! After I die, I hope my body can be complete. What's more, I am not sure whether I am able to feel or not if I die. If I am still conscious, and my body is cut and organs are hollowed... My family and friends must feel sad and struggle. This will be a dilemma for them as well as myself.

4.2 Do you have an organ transplant donor card?
No, I don't have it. However I would like to get one in the future. Maybe I will regret before few minutes I am going to die. In so doing,I could still leave something precious in this world and not live in vain!

4.2 Do a brief research online and find out where you can get an organ transplant donor card? Which hospitals or government agencies provide the card? Put the information on your blog entry.
After surfing the net, I found there are two ways for us to get an organ transplant donor card. Firstly, we can fill out the form provided by this website, http://www.organ.org.tw/. This is a convenient way. If you have more time, you could go to Organ Procurement Association, R.O.C. located in Taipei; in so doing, you can not only get the card but also have a better understanding towards organic transplant.

Working Moms

1. What is the main message of Group 7's podcast topic?
They dissuss about whether Mom should go out for job or take care of the family at home. Additionally, they also mention some deeper questions, for example, if the couple get divorced, how about their children?

2. Did their show provide solutions to the problem? What are they?
Most of them agree the women can go working rather than stay at home, and they also think that it is important to find the balance between work and family. Women should do their best to make their children not feel lonely or less important.

3. Comment on the group's podcast.
3.1 What can you say about the quality of recording?
It is pretty good!

There were many pictures, which can lead us to have a better understanding.
3.4 Was there anything that you didn't like about their show? What is it and why?
No, their show is not bad.
3.5 If Group 7 is given the chance to do another presentation, what would you suggest members of Group 3 to do to make their presentation better?
They are good enough.

4. What do you think?
4.1 What is your view of women's and men's roles?
In my point of view, men must go working to earn money undoubtedly; however, women have two options. They can choose to work or stay at home, and either is acceptable for the public. It depends on their own personalities and economic situatuons.

4.2 State an opposite or different idea for each of the ideas below.

1. Societies are in trouble because women have jobs outside the home.

Opposite idea: Men have caused much of society's probles because most leaders are men.

2. Women are naturally suited to raising children.

Opposite idea: Not certainly, some women have less patience than men; men are likely to have good temper, too.

3. Men are natural leaders.

Opposite Idea: There are also some successful women. Most women are more considerate and tough than men.

4. A man's place is outside the home, working to support the family.

Opposite idea: Not only men but also women have the same responsibility to support the family.

5. Children need the help, love, and support that only mothers who are in the home can give.

Opposite idea: Other mothers working outside can give their children the same thing. Perhaps they may treat children better because moms think the time spend with children is precious and limited.

Capital Punishment

1. What is the main message of Group 6's podcast topic?
They discuss some serious problems in our society. Most people only care about the victim's family and ignore the criminal's family feeling, which does harm to them.

2. Did their show provide solutions to the problem? What are they?
The press should avoid putting the criminals' family's photos in the public's face. Because they need their own spaces and lives; no one would like to have such a bad guy as thier family member. The public should treat them equally.

3. Comment on the group's podcast.
3.1 What can you say about the quality of recording?
Not bad!
3.1.1 Was the voice of the hosts/guests/characters loud and clear?

No.

No
3.2 Was there any sound effects or background music used? Was it effective? In what way?
I didn't hear any sound effect.
3.3 Was there anything that you like about their show? What is it and why?
They mentioned the old news, 陳進興. That was really a big news, and I didn't know what's happened to his family until listen to their presentation.
3.4 Was there anything that you didn't like about their show? What is it and why?
No.
3.5 If Group 6 is given the chance to do another presentation, what would you suggest members of Group 3 to do to make their presentation better?
Maybe they could also put some photos and music to enrich the presentation.

4. What do you think?
4.1 In which situations or crime committed do you think it is OK to use death penalty?
A person who murders people deserves death penalty. Because he doesn't respect others' lives at all, we do not need to think for him. What's more, he will be a trouble maker certainly in the future.

4.2 Do you agree that if you kill someone, you have to die, too? Or do you agree that capital punishment is wrong because it is another form of killing?
I think once you kill someone, and you have to die, too. By doing so, everyone can learn to be responsible for your own behaviors.

International Relationships

I think the voice in our podcast presentation is loud and clear enough; besides, the background music is suitable and it didn't cause any interfere during the presentation. However, the length seems a little bit short...Next time, if I have the chance again to make similar presentation, I will set off earlier and make the content more abundent and interesting.
I have done my best to finish this presentation and I also put what I have learned in computer class into practice, for example, Goldwave and Power Director. In so doing, I really learn a lot! Now I become more familiar to some technical skills.
I am able to design the presentation and make sound effect. What's more, to cooperate with our members is pleasant.
When recording, I have to express my feeling via my voice, so I could practice my tone and pronounciation. Additionally, I think the Long distance relationship is really hard to maintain. In the future, I will ponder carefully when facing the same situation.

2. Did their show provide solutions to the problem? What are they?
Yes. one of the guests mentioned that to be a friend firstly is better than to be a lover. That's what I think, too! After getting along with a person, you will know him/ her deeply.

3. Comment on the group's podcast.
3.1 What can you say about the quality of recording?
I think it is perfect!
3.1.1 Was the voice of the hosts/guests/characters loud and clear?

I like their show very much!
3.5 If Group 1 is given the chance to do another presentation, what would you suggest members of Group 3 to do to make their presentation better?
They are perfect so that I can't come up with anything for them to better themselves.

4. What do you think?
4.1 Can a man and a woman be close friends without beinh lovers?

Use the any of the following phrases when you compose your blog entry:
Maybe not. I think once lovers broke up, and it's embarrassing to see each other. Because there must be something unhappy happened to they; otherwise, they will not decide to saperate. Therefore, I think being a stranger instead of being a close friend is much more possible!

4.2 Looking at the issue
1. What is your best friend like? Use three adjectives. For example, tall, kind, talkative.

He/She is humerous, easygoing and considerate.

2. Why is that person your best friend?

She helps me overcome every difficulty and teaches me how to face the music optimistically; in addition, I can share everything with her.

3. Is your best friend a man or a woman?
She is a woman.

4. Losing a friend or lover is sometimes painful to bear. What would you suggest people who have lost a friend or lover to do in order to ease the pain? What do you think they should or should not do?
There must be reasons why you will lose freind or lover, so you should correct all your disadvantages, selfishness, too straightforward or maybe you gave him/her too much pressure. To be a better person is important, and you must have to learn lessons from this painful experience. What's more, you have to give yourself a break, and don't keep blaming on yourself because it's not all your fault! Being optimistic as well as confident. Days in the future are still long.

Traffic jam comment

1. What is the main message of Group 3's podcast topic?

2. Did their show provide solutions to the problem? What are they?
They encourage people to make the most of the public transportation.

3. Comment on the group's podcast.
3.1 What can you say about the quality of recording?
Not bad!
3.1.1 Was the voice of the hosts/guests/characters loud and clear?
Yes, it was!
3.1.2 Was there any background noise that made it difficult to understand what was being said?
I think there is few background noise.
3.1.3 Was the pacing (speed) of the delivery (oral delivery made by the hosts/guests/characters) too slow or too fast?
It was pretty good and clear.

3.2 Was there any sound effects or background music used? Was it effective? In what way?
Just like other two groups. Their sound effects were excellent!
3.3 Was there anything that you like about their show? What is it and why?
They express not only the sound but some photos, which is much more vivid and interesting. What's more, they introduce everything to the details.
3.4 Was there anything that you didn't like about their show? What is it and why?
I think it is fine.
3.5 If Group 1 is given the chance to do another presentation, what would you suggest members of Group 3 to do to make their presentation better?
They can take more pictures during their interview so that every photo won't show up repeatedly.

4. What do you think?
4.1 What do you think about the transportation problem in Kaohsiung? If you were to offer a solution for the Kaohsiung City government to implement to solve the problem, what would it be and why?
In Kaohsiung, the traffic is pretty convenient. However, in rush hours, there always seems to be crowded in a shuttle bus as well as the KRT. This condition really decreases people's willings to take the public transportation. To solve the problem, the government can enlarge the size of buses. Honestly speaking, some buses are indeed too little to load passengers. Perhaps the government can also shorten the time between every bus in rush hours so that the public would be willing to wait for a few minutes, and every passenger could enjoy the journey in an ample room.

Taking care of mother comment

1. What is the main message of Group 2's podcast topic?
It is the issue about whether modern people should send their old mom to the nursery or let them stay with us.

2. Did their show provide solutions to the problem? What are they?
Yes, in their show I have heard that some old people even commit suicide instead of keeping staying at the nursery; from those tragedies, it isn't difficult to realize the old's inner thoughts and their hope. What they really want is company and a sense of belonging.

3. Comment on the group's podcast.
3.1 What can you say about the quality of recording?
Not bad. If the voice could be more balanced, it will be better!

3.1.1 Was the voice of the hosts/guests/characters loud and clear?
Yes, it was.

Background noise is still acceptable.
3.1.3 Was the pacing (speed) of the delivery (oral delivery made by the hosts/guests/characters) too slow or too fast?
No, it is clear.

3.2 Was there any sound effects or background music used? Was it effective? In what way?
Their music in the beginning is very interesting and suitable. At first, they caught everyone's eye successfully.

3.3 Was there anything that you like about their show? What is it and why?
They paid lots of efforts to search information related to this topic befor; therefore, the content of whole podcast isn't empty but abundant.

3.4 Was there anything that you didn't like about their show? What is it and why?
Some voice are a little bit small, and some are loud.

3.5 If Group 2 is given the chance to do another presentation, what would you suggest members of Group 2 to do to make their presentation better?
Balence the voice carefully.

4. What do you think?
4.1 What do you think about taking care of your mother/father? Should a child/children shoulder this responsibility? State your opinion based on any of the following factors:
Taking care of parents is a child's duty undoubtedly. When they were young, they spared no efforts to make money to support their children and strove to give them a better life; therefore, how can children refuse to take care of them in return or think of them as a big trouble? As the junior generation, we should know that without parents, we couldn't have stayed in this world until now. When my parents become old, I hope they could live with me. Because they don't have any son but 3 daughters, it will be easier to take care of them if we live together. What's more, the old may feel afraid and lonely as their friends or family disappear one after another; they really need our company in the rest of their lives. One day, if I become old, I will surely be eager to stay with my children!

Forever Single Comments

1. What is the main message of Group 1's podcast topic?
The main message of Group 1's podcast topic is whether modern people should get married or not, and they also invited some special guests to share their own opinions towards this issue with us.

2. Did their show provide solutions to the problem? What are they?
Yes, they did. Our vice principal, who is a single, said,"listening the voice from yor heart." Whether you want to get married is up to you, but the important thing is to face yourself honestly. Furthermore, they also mentioned the reason why Korean women wouldn't like to marry, for example, they would like to focus on their study and raising children costs lots of money and time. With those different points of view, we can consider that is marriage suitable for us.

3. Comment on the group's podcast.
3.1 What can you say about the quality of recording?
It is pretty good and very clear.

3.1.1 Was the voice of the hosts/guests/characters loud and clear?
I think it will be better if the guests' voice could be louder.

3.1.2 Was there any background noise that made it difficult to understand what was being said?
Though there was an ambulance noise, I still can understand what was being said.

3.1.3 Was the pacing (speed) of the delivery (oral delivery made by the hosts/guests/characters) too slow or too fast?

3.4 Was there anything that you didn't like about their show? What is it and why?
The sound could be clearer and louder.
3.5 If Group 1 is given the chance to do another presentation, what would you suggest members of Group 1 to do to make their presentation better?
Be care of the guests' voice, and their presentation will much better.

4. What do you think?
4.1 What do you think about marriage? Should a person stay single or get married? State your opinion based on any of the following factors:
I think marriage is of great importance, and it will make a great effect on your whole life. Thus, think twice before you make up your mind to get married. As far as I am concerned, person's life is not complete until he or she forms a family with their beloved. Our parents and relatives will leave us one day, so having offsprings is necessary if you don't live the rest of life independently. Moreover, by getting married, people will become more mature as well as more considerate because the couple should learn how to take care of and adapt to each other; they have to conquer all problems hand in hand. However, if there is no Mr.Right, I would rather stay forever single than get married reluctantly. After all, it's the fate that control our lives. Just let nature take its course.

Flying Phoenix

I think it is not bad to try to produce something by themselves, especially, the aircraft loaded with so many lives. The Chinese are really bold enough to take challenges; I still remember a few months ago, they launch the rocket with three astronauts to the outer space; this news really made a hit back then. However, whether it was true or not is suspicious nowadays.

If I had the chance to ride in China's ARJ-21 airplane, I absolutely won't take it. After all, I am only 18. There are countless bad records of China, mattress, batteries, food, or even women's PAD, to name just a few. It is very hard to convince me this latest production is undoubtedly safe. Moreover, I believe that tainted milk event has caused a shadow in people's heart and made harm to a great number of people. It must be a hard task for China to gain the consumers' confidence again.

My Fashion Style

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/newsenglish/britain/index.shtml

In today's listening material, I see so many lookings which are thought of as fashuon by the juveniles nowadays. For example, piercings in every part of body, rocker clothes, flared pants and so on. A swarm of people are eager to equip themselves with all these fashions, and neglect whether they are suitable or not.
In my opinions, if everyone wears in the similar style and why don't we just put on uniforms? Thus, do not just pursue the trend; just be yourself and be confident in yourself!

As to my own style, I don't have any certain looking actually. My hair has just dyed two weeks ago, which satisfy my desire to change my appearance a little bit. What's more, instead of black, I prefer being in bright colors such as pink, purple.I think those light colors look younger and more energetic. Shoes which are easily walking are good shoes; in fact, I love sandals very much.

I would like to have ear piercings. Because those ornaments are so appealing that I really want to take them home. However, I am really afraid of pain, so it is almost impossible for me to make up my mind to do that!

Message to Obama

Dear newly-elected president:
Nowadays, almost every part around the world suffers from the economic disasters such as stock collapse. I think economic problems are tricky and pressing; it is of great importance to solve them in time; otherwise, not only poverty but some problems related to public order would be brought about.
Moreover, global warming is another popular global issue. The eco-system as well as climates are all seriously influenced; what's worse, the next generation might not be able to see real polar bears any more and the food supply would not satisfy all requirments. Thus, it is time to take immediate and complete measures to balance this condition.
Peace between countries is also one of people's expectations in the future; no one would like to see the tragedy repeated over and over again.
We also hope that you could take good care of those victims suffer from earthquake in China or AIDS in Africa. They really need the support and a chance to rebuild their home.
Poverty stricken areas have more and more diseases because of poor sanitation. Perhaps you could better it or invent new injection to prevent and heal the illness, and help them live a better life than before.

Podcast Shows

We are team 5, and our topic is “International (Long distance) relationships.”

As the world globalizes day after day, more and more people decide to go abroad to study or work for the further achievements. Definitely, they leave for other countries, and they also have to leave their beloved people. Therefore, there are many couples keep in touch with each other via Internet and phone only; gradually, some problems may bring about. They would lose confidence in each other or maybe there would be someone new more appealing than the old one. No matter what the outcome is, it is hard for the couples in long distance to maintain their sincere and everlasting love.

After discussing for a while, we decided to present our report by broadcasting, and our title is “Talk Love Story.”, so brief but clear! We have already set the characters; we also have the direction about what we have to do next. I play the man who shares his own experience in the air, and I will surf the net to seek the proper information based on this topic and practice my pronunciation. In addition, I will also spare no effort to cooperate with my teammates. I believe we will do our best to finish this final presentation!

Sinkula Typhoon

Write a brief blog entry about this issue. Do you think that this accident could have been avoided? Yes, No, Why? Do you think that someone has to take the blame for this accident? Why do you think so? Deadline: 9/29/2008
Yes, I think this accident could have been avoided if the bridges maintained regularly and people stayed at home and did not fool around on the street. However, not everyone can take a day off like students or government employees when typhoon struck; thus, it is very hard to avoid the tragedy completely.

As far as I am concerned, It is the authorities concerned that are to blame. Without their carelessness, everything, I deeply believe, will be okay, and harm rate will plunge certainly. Based on each experience, both people and the government should learn lessons from it.

tainted milk

photo from: http://images. google.com/ images?q= poisoned% 20milk%20from%

http://www.voanews.com/english/2008-09-15-voa34.cfm?textmode=0 Surprisingly, after mattress and ice, there is another products with big problems discovered in China. How can they be so careless? How come they cannot just think more for others? What they have done is destroying their country's own fame and make themselves become notorious in the world. I think it could also happen in Taiwan, because most modern people know nothing but how to benefit themselves.

From this terrible incident, people around the world must have learned a painful lesson. Not only milk powder but also other delicious desserts are contaminated by those selfish producers; namely, not only infants and children but adults are likely to suffer from diseases such as kidney stone as well as acute kidney failure resulted from Melamine.

As far as I am concerned, to decrease harm and prevent the same disasters take place over and over again, there are several points of view as following: Firstly, the authorities concerned should announce import ban properly, and strive to check whether the products qualities of different firms are secure. Secondly, all people have to be reeducated. Apparently, nowadays, many tradesmen's ultimate goal is just make a fortune so that they would neglect business morals and take customers' rights lightly. Finally, buyers should be smarter and protect ourselves. Think twice before you make decision!

In Taiwan, the government has provided people with free check-ups; thus, we may heal in time as long as we find it earlier. Mankind around the world should work shoulder by shoulder to stop this tragedy.
